Seems to be a sender of the message was easy but not if the message should be sent is sad news. That’s the hardest jobs that must be carried sending soldiers ‘death message’ after they returned from a battle. This time this task fell to Will Montgomery (Ben Foster).
On his return from duty in Iraq, Will and Tony Stone (Woody Harrelson) are two soldiers assigned to the Casualty Notification. Their job is to send the news to come directly to the house of the soldiers who died in the field this task. It did not take long for Will to realize that the task to be the bearer of this message was far more severe than face the enemy on the battlefield.

One of the tasks that must be executed Will and Tony is giving in Olivia Pitterson (Samantha Morton) that her husband had died on the battlefield. It turned out that the meeting of two people who are in a very unstable condition was even turned into a personal attachment. Will that originally only wanted to deliver this bad news and leave it even felt a strong attachment to Olivia.
