Abbott Cellach (Brendan Gleeson), Uncle Brendan, is really a writer but also because of the threat of Viking attack, Abbott then leave this interest and dedicated his life to build a wall that will protect them from attacks of the Vikings. Brendan Abbott hopes could help solve this wall prior to construction of Viking attack actually happened.

Unfortunately, this Abbot desire not welcomed by Brendan who was more interested in the art of writing. Unmitigated, Brendan intend to complete the writing of Book of Kells (Latin manuscript containing the four Gospels of the New Testament), but this work certainly is not easy work because the temptation will always come, and not everyone can accomplish this sacred work.
