Know that the challenge to play in the movie SHUTTER ISLAND is not light, Leonardo DiCaprio decided to conduct a small research to prepare for his role. Documentary about the mentally ill is the reference source used to prepare Leonardo Teddy Daniels character in this movie.

“There are a lot of research has been done on mental illness and suffering through which the people, so I use this documentary for my research,” said Leonardo DiCaprio was quoted as saying by Splash News.

In this movie SHUTTER ISLAND Leonardo DiCaprio plays a cop who tracks a mad killer managed to escape from the hospital and hid in an isolated island. This is not the first time Leonardo played in the movie with bleak themes. Previously he also played in the movie Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet.
